The illustration below shows why the radical longitudinal curve is so essential to providing you the ultimate paddling experience. The curve allows what we call
TOB (Time On Blade). The longer you can get a selected volume of water to stay on top of the blade surface, the stronger your connection with that point in the water. You can now most efficiently pull your kayak or canoe past that point in the water. This means you will radically improve the distance traveled between strokes equating to more distance per effort unit (cadence); which results in improved efficiency.
The logitudinal curve of the blade forces the water into the center of the blade from both the top and the bottom. The convergence in the middle of the blade forces the water out to the sides stabilizing the blade and maximizing TOB.

Another advantage is improved tracking when paddling your kayak or canoe. Our paddle does not cause your kayak to "waggle" or "zig-zag" back and forth off course as "flat" paddles do. This is because the efficiency of the blade design has you pulling straight back on the water, rather than the water sliding off the flat paddle surface and out to the side. So you paddle in a much straighter line. This minimizes those extra off-tempo strokes needed to realign your kayak's direction, allowing you to maintain your comfortable cadence for moving forward.
